Dog-Loving Gardeners Needed
Saturday,
May 31st we will be beautifying the entrance at TOP. The
Johnson County Master Gardeners have offered their
assistance to create and maintain our new entrance. Cristi
Hawk has designed a new landscape for you to enjoy as you
enter the park. If you are able to assist us, volunteers are
needed. We will plan to begin at 8:00 am. Rain date for the
project is: 6/7/2008. Please bring gloves, tools and other
items that might be handy. If you are unable to help with
this project, but plan to use the park this day, please bear
with us. This project might cause delays in entering and
exiting the park.
Lucky Pawz Playground Is
Open
On Tuesday, 22 April, Earth Day, the city re-opened
the Lucky Pawz Playground to all dogs. They closed Emma's
Run and re-seeded it. Emma's Run will be closed for a while
letting the turf revive.
Sunday Clean Up
Thanks to everyone who came to help clean up
TOP on Sunday. Please notice when Lucky Pawz Playground is
open again that there are mailboxes to hold unused poop bags
on each post that has a poop bag dispenser. Thanks, Jean
Martin. The best thing to note was that there were far fewer
cigarette butts in the Lucky Pawz Playground than when we
cleaned that yard last spring.
There will be another park clean up on the
second Sunday in May, May 11, at 2pm. Everyone is welcome
to come help.

Next Meeting
The next meeting will be
held at 7pm on Thursday, June 14, 2008, in the Iowa City
Robert A Lee Recreation Center.
Come meet us and give us your ideas about off-leash dog
areas in Iowa City. You can volunteer to help with
park clean up, planting, and more.
Even though the Thornberry Off-Leash Dog Park is open, there is still plenty going on that you might want to know about. Please join the JC DogPAC email list to find out about volunteer opportunities, park news, and more.
