December 08, 2003: JC DogPAC representatives attended a neighborhood meeting with city and county representatives and residents from around the landfill site. Some concerns about locating an off-leash recreation area on the site were raised, including the effect of traffic on Kansas Avenue and whether and how park users their dogs would interact with nearby livestock.

September 22, 2003: T-shirts are available!. We're going to be selling t-shirts at the Animal Shelter and at the Farmer's Market on Wednesdays. They cost $12 ea or 2/$20. Here is the design for the shirts.

September 13, 2003: T-shirts are on the way!. Check out our booth at Paws in the Park to buy one for yourself and your friends. Supplies are limited. Here is the design for the shirts - thanks to Shelley Luster for the design!

September 13, 2003: JC DogPAC will have a booth at Paws in the Park, September 21, from 12:00 - 4:00 (for more info on Paws, go to www.icanimalcenter.org. Our plan is to sell t-shirts, Nachos, and have bumper stickers and info to give out. We need people to help staff the booth. Contact Beth Shields to volunteer.

September 09, 2003: DogPAC presented its proposal to City Council last night, accompanied by dozens of dogs and their owners. Council has agreed to work with the group in securing a site for an off-leash recreation area. The issue was covered on tv and in the paper - see the Press Citizen's coverage.

September 02, 2003: The first annual Iowa City Dog Paddle was a huge success! Hundreds of people and over 356 dogs attended and helped DogPAC raise over $2000. Thanks to everyone who helped organize the event and everyone who attended.

August 18, 2003: JC DogPAC has helped organized the First Iowa City Dog Swim! Bring your pooch to the City Park pool on September 2 for an open canine swim. All proceeds go to help JC DogPAC. (More Info)

August 01, 2003: JC DogPAC has obtained a table at the Iowa City Farmer's Market on Wednesdays. Stop by and say hi and get some info about the group and our progress.

July 21, 2003: JC DogPAC needs your support! We are hoping to get on the Iowa City Council's agenda to make the case for an off-leash recreation area and request that the council designate a tract of city-owned land for the park. Please sign our petition today! You can help us out with just a couple clicks of your mouse.

July 14, 2003: DogPAC would like to thank all of our friends helping us to achieve our goal of an off-leash recreation area.

July 02, 2003: DogPAC will have been granted a table at the Farmer's Market, on Wednesdays, through the end of August.

June 29, 2003: DogPAC had a table at Pawsitively Pets (400 Kirkwood Ave) "Dog Day Afternoon" on Sunday, June 28 from 12:00 - 4:00. We handed out flyers, sold bumper stickers and sold homemade doggie ice cream treats. Other dog groups there included a massage therapist, a photographer, rescue groups, someone doing microchipping, demonstrations in flyball and agility, etc.

June 05, 2003: The Art Mission has very generously offered to donate a percentage of sales from the Gallery Walk to JC DogPAC, for the support and development of the park. If you have a picture you have been wanting to frame, this would be an auspicious time to talk to Kathy at the Art Mission, about your project.

Gallery Walk is Friday, June 6th, in the evening after work hours. There are many wonderful galleries on the Walk showing interesting work. Be sure to stop in The Art Mission, 114 South Linn Street to see the art, enjoy a glass of wine, buy a bumper sticker for JC DogPAC, or any combination of those things. And be sure to thank Kathy Rash, owner of the Art Mission, for her support for the park.

May 01, 2003: Bumperstickers are ready for production! Check out the JC DogPAC bumperstickers that you can buy for $2. They will be available at JC DogPAC events, or you can order them through Anne Burnside.

March 17, 2003: Johnson County DogPac is now an Iowa not-for profit corporation. Here are the articles of incorporation and our bylaws. We are applying for Federal nonprofit status.

February 13, 2003: Dottie Ray has invited DogPAC to be her guest on Thursday, February 20th at 11:30 a.m. Misha Goodman and Anne Burnside will attend. Also, Renee Paine will host a DogPAC call-in show on PATV. This program will air Monday, March 10th at 7:30 p.m. on PATV. Tune in and call in.

February 06, 2003: The logo has been selected. Many thanks to Beth Shields for taking the lead on this and persevering when the rest of us were distracted with other things. Now that DogPAC has a logo, we can make yard signs; bumper stickers; brochures for information and fundraising, you name it.

January 16, 2003: The Iowa City Press-Citizen has an article on DogPAC's proposal to the city council.

January 13, 2003: Good news! We're moving forward with great speed toward our goal of an off-leash dog park! DogPAC submitted its proposal to the Iowa City City Council just in time to be considered at its Public Projects Improvement meeting, which got underway at 8:30 this morning!
