December 5, 2005 Kroeger family donates $5000 to JCDogPAC
Gene Kroeger was a builder and real estate developer and a founder of the real estate firm known today as Lepic-Kroeger Realtors. Mr. Kroeger died in 2004 after having lived in Iowa City for more than 20 years. He had large dogs--Dobermans--and took them to run in City Park every day. Mr. Kroeger loved his dogs and valued the way dogs could bring some calmness to a very busy life. He was very aware of the need within the city for a place where people could exercise their dogs. Mr. Kroeger’s family has donated $5,000 to JC DogPAC in Mr. Kroeger's memory and in the belief he would have wanted to support the development of the off-leash park.

November 16, 2005 On November 16, 2005, members of the DogPAC board met with representatives from All American Concrete (construction) and Aubrecht Fence (fencing), Shoemaker & Haaland Engineering (park architects), and City of Iowa City staff to agree on aspects of the dog park construction. All American will start moving dirt as soon as the weather and work on other projects permit. Weather will be the big determining factor on the pace of construction because concrete won't set up if it is too cold. Aubrecht will order materials and would like to start installing fence right after Thanksgiving.

April 10, 2005: The 1st Annual
EGGStravaganza was wildly successful! Over 225 dogs and
their families showed up to hunt for yummy canine treats
which were generously provided by WOOFABLES, The Gourmet
Dog Bakery. Some dogs dressed up in their Spring finery,
others performed their favorite tricks for an adoring crowd,
and everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks to the generosity
of the attendees, the event raised over $2500, which JC
DogPAC will put directly to building an off-leash dog park.
Our first area dog park is now even closer to realization!
